Wasco State Route 43/46 Intersection Improvements Project
Project Description
The Wasco State Route 43/46 Intersection Improvements project proposes to construct a roundabout at the intersection of State Route 43 and State Route 46 in the city of Wasco in Kern County, California. The project would construct a single-lane roundabout on a two-lane roundabout footprint. Other improvements include drainage elements, a lighting system, a flashing beacon system, and a traffic monitoring system.
Project Benefits
Purpose
The purpose of the project is to improve intersection traffic operations and safety by reducing the number and severity of collisions and reducing traffic congestion at the east junction intersection of State Route 43 with State Route 46 by placing a roundabout at the intersection.
Need
The intersection has a collision rate above the statewide average for similar facilities, and traffic warrants have been met that establish the need for a safety improvement project at the intersection.
