Lee Vining Pavement Rehabilitation Project

Project Information

The Lee Vining Pavement Rehabilitation Project is a large-scale reconstruction and redesign of U.S. 395 through Lee Vining that will change the look of the highway for years to come. The project area spans roughly 2.5 miles from just south of the junction with State Route 120 W to Picnic Grounds Road. Project features include:

  • Complete rehabilitation of the existing pavement area.
  • Redesign of U.S 395 from a five-lane highway to a three-lane highway from just south of Lee Vining Avenue to just north of Lee Vining High School.
    • Addition of bike lanes in both directions within the same area.

  • Replace, repair, or construct new facilities including ADA-compliant curb ramps and driveways, street lighting, landscaping, crosswalks, and guardrail.
  • Add permanent stormwater treatment facilities.
  • Expansion of sidewalks up to 16' wide.
  • New head-in parking between Lee Vining Avenue and 4th Street.
